Bible verse for the day |
Words by the Wayside is a Registered Scottish Charity( SC041290), run entirely by volunteers, whose purpose is to spread the Good News that the Lord Jesus Christ is Real and there is peace with God available for you through Him. Bible ThoughtsPage 1 | Page 2 | Page 3 | Page 4 | Page 5 | Page 6 “Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me...for without Me ye can do nothing.” (John 15:4,5) The devoted Believer knows the things of the Lord by intimacy with Him. Seeing Christ in glory made Paul the apostle blind as a man to everything on earth. This is the devotedness to Christ’s things that become us, enduring loss and hardships ourselves in order that we may save and bless others. “He must increase but I must decrease”. “And there was one Anna, a prophetess...and she was a widow of about fourscore and four years, which departed not from the temple, but served God with fastings and prayers night and day.” (Luke 2: 36,37) She has the three marks of a devoted woman. She departed not from the temple; she adhered with devoted affection to the circle of God’s interests on earth; she clung to it with unswerving zeal. We only serve Him, as we follow Him. When the believer has faith, the Lord is before them and not themselves. May the Lord strengthen our hearts to devote ourselves without reserve to His service. |
