Bible verse for the day |
Words by the Wayside is a Registered Scottish Charity( SC041290), run entirely by volunteers, whose purpose is to spread the Good News that the Lord Jesus Christ is Real and there is peace with God available for you through Him. Bible ThoughtsPage 1 | Page 2 | Page 3 | Page 4 | Page 5 | Page 6 "And when he was entered into a ship his disciples followed him. And behold, there arose a great tempest in the sea, insomuch that the ship was covered with waves: but He was asleep’’ (Matthew 8:23,24) He was asleep, and they were in fear. They awoke him and he hushed the storm and there was a great calm. He was there, but silent. Faith in action on the disciple’s part should have known He was there, He is always there! The Lord Jesus Christ ,that Great Shepherd of the sheep, will never leave nor forsake the believer. Have faith and doubt not! ‘‘Come unto me all ye that labour and are heavy laden and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.’’ (Matthew 11:28,29) Progress for the believer is always Christward; the path of faith rests in him only. Lot’s one ambition in life was his own will and happiness and yet ‘‘his righteous soul was vexed.’’ Believers who reach the point of parting company with ‘Self’ realise that here on earth they are dead, and the life they now live, they live in the Son of God who loved them and gave himself for them. ‘‘...And Moses said unto them, this is the bread which the Lord hath given you to eat. And they gathered it every morning, every man according to his eating: and when the sun waxed hot, it melted.’’ (Exodus 16:15&21.) The manna was gathered before the sun was up, just as the believers heart is to be stored with Christ before the demands of the day begin. If your soul has been fed with Christ for the day, it is sufficient for the day. The day’s provision was given before the days troubles or opportunities came on. |
